You will learn and practice skills from treatment approaches like CBT, ACT, somatic techniques and mindfulness to cope with your life.
We will explore what past/current factors are affecting your emotional state and decide on a plan that will help you build resilience and improve your life.
What is therapy Intensive?
Therapy Intensive is an accelerated and transformative form of therapy that helps you explore deeper into what bothers you and feel better faster. Instead of going to counseling one hour a week which could take months or years to see results. You would talk to a therapist for 3 hours for 1 or 3 days and feel better now.
First, we will do a pre-intensive interview to determine if this type of counseling a good fit for you. We will set your goals to see what you hope to change. We will identify your stressors, your ways of coping and your support system. During intensive, we will use Trauma Focused CBT and ACT to learn to overcome distressing memories. We'll discuss how your thoughts and perceptions affect your emotional and physical state. We will work together to identify and cope with anxiety, trauma or grief. As you talk about what bothers you with a trauma therapist, you will process your memories and start to see things differently and take control of your life. You will learn resilience skills to adapt to the adversity and stress of life. We will use resourcing activities like mindfulness meditation, guided imagery, somatic, emotion regulation or artwork to help you learn to calm yourself when you are anxious and overwhelmed. Last, we will do a post-intensive interview to determine what was most helpful and how to incorporate that into your daily routine and what to do moving forward.
First, we will do a phone consult to determine if this is a good fit for you. Then we will schedule an initial appointment.
